Today was cold, windy and just down-right unpleasant. Times like this makes me wish I had one of these furry scarves to keep me nice and warm. I really like the contrast of the fur against the different textures of leather, wool, and hardware. Accessories are totally the way to go for spicing up an outfit.

Whenever I see McQueen's new collections, I am always excited to share it with my readers. This time was no different... just that my heart skipped a few beats when I saw that drop dead gorgeous chiffon and floral encrusted gown at the end.

Very feminine, yet powerful pieces. It's a perfect balance. She hints curiosity and vulnerability with sheer tops and peeking shoulders, but downplays it with strong shapes and defensive edge of waist clenching belts and finishes everything off with a pair of killer heels

Yes, this was the one I was talking about. The details and craftsmanship is just mind boggling. When looking at a piece of McQueen art, every single aspect of the garment is stunning. From the puffed chiffon sleeves that are so sheer it resembles black wisps of smoke to the lace and embellished corset. I am dying to see close ups of the floral detail. Benefit: Legally Bronzed Review

I have a bit of a "haul" to share with you today. I say "haul" because I brought home quite a few products, but it was all kind of unanticipated. I went to Sephora looking for a matte bronzer and decided to pick up Benefit's Hoola since it's been highly raved. This thing was $38 (I know right...) upon lining up for the cashier, one of the sales associates informed me that there is actually a Limited Edition kit that has the same full size bronzer along with 3 other goodies all for just a few dollars more. I quickly swapped for the kit (obviously) and that is how I ended up bringing home a mini haul of products.

The Kit is called Legally Bronzed and it contains: High Beam, BADgal Brown mascara, Hoola bronzer, and Gilded Tangerine Golden pencil. The plastic pouch it came in is kind of cute but tacky at the same time... oh well, really cannot complain for the price ($47, tax included in Canada).

Let's start off with Hoola since it was what I had originally intended to purchase only. This is a nice matte bronzer used to warm up the cheeks and contour the face. It comes with a cute little brush which has a good shape for more precise application.

Next up is High Beam, a liquid highlighter used usually on the cheekbones, brow bone, and other areas of the face you wish to bring out. The finish is very pearly, use sparingly to avoid looking shiny. The consistency reminds me of nail polish. This is full size and retails for $28 if buying it alone.

Gilded is a tangerine gold highlighter in pencil form. I think this would be great on the inner corners of the eye or as a eyeshadow base to bring warmth to any colors laid on top.

When applied heavily, it has a nice coppery, golden color. You can also blend it out to highlight other areas of your face

Last is this BADgal Brown mascara. I personally am not a fan of brown mascara, it just doesn't cut if for my lashes which are already kind of sparse and thin (typical Asian lashes)

The formula was very dry. Not sure if this is always the case or if I just picked up a bad one. Either way, I don't see this as being a go-to mascara for me.

Hard to believe Pre-Fall collections are out already... sometimes I forget just how fast the fashion industry moves. But Fall always excites me to the most because it's my favorite season! The only time when it's cold enough to layer, yet still warm enough that you don't need to hide your outfit under a chunky coat. Diesel really hit the spot with their latest show, featuring lots of neutrals that we've come to expect for a Fall collection. I really enjoyed the looks that consisted of a balance of harsh leathers and blacks with some delicate sheers in soft tones.

Those giant bags would probably swallow my entire frame, but I can't help but get excited thinking about how I can stuff my whole life in there and still have room for more. Sorry, I like to be prepared. And of course, I always love the boxy jacket on top of fitted leather pants look.

I really wish details were available for these dresses because the middle one appears to have some beautiful understated patterns. Again, love the contrast between the thick leather belt and sheer drapery.

We've seen sheer garments all over the place, but something about the color and carefully adjusted opacity makes these skirts resemble frosted glass which is simply gorgeous. You can view the rest of the looks on Style.com. What are your thoughts on this collection? :)

Exclusive Interview with Hailey Coleman of Damn Heels

Want to look and feel fabulous with a pair of killer heels but cringe at the thought of limping back home with aching feet? How do we get around these Damn Heels?! This was the very incident that inspired 23-year old Hailey Coleman to put an end to our misery with a pair of classy, comfortable flats that come in a clutch that converts to a tote bag which we can then pop our heels in to conceal the fact that our heels got the better of us after a night of partying. It was this post-event relief solution that won Coleman $25,000 from a Ryerson competition to kick start her business in 2009. Fast forward a few years and Coleman has saved thousands of women from walking home barefoot, heels in hand. Check out the video to see just how these Damn Heels work!

I loved the idea and I think all fashionistas who love their heels should know about these lifesavers. I had the pleasure of interviewing Hailey to better understand the vision behind Damn Heels, what she has in store for us in the near future, and advice for young entrepreneurs!

2. How has Damn Heels found success in the market since launch?

The first year was amazing; we were lucky enough to be featured in the media. Damn Heels was featured in newspapers such as the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, and plenty of fashion magazine like Flare. Damn Heels also appeared on Breakfast Television and Dragon's Den (a reality TV program featuring entrepreneurs who pitch their ideas to a panel of investors).

3. There are still many out there who have yet to be blessed with Damn Heels, what are your plans to spread the word?

Our plan this year is to increase our retail presence. Damn Heels is currently available online and is featured in retail in 8 provinces across Canada, and 2 states in the U.S.

4. We all have a certain piece of garment or accessory that makes us women feel confident and powerful. For most, it’s the shoes. In your own words, why do you think shoes have such an influence on the way women feel about themselves?

I think shoes complete any outfit - that’s why women feel so great in them. A lot of women feel even more confident wearing high heels. Wouldn’t it be amazing if women felt just as confident wearing flats.

5. What were some challenges you faced when you first started Damn Heels?

I had no idea what I was doing - I knew very little about the industry I was working in and was figuring out things along the way. After a year, I found an amazing consultant to help me understand my business and put together a plan. Now I am more focused than ever, there's a lot in store for Damn Heels!

6. How long did it take you to design the shoes, were they what you had originally imaged?

It took me 9 months to develop the first pair of Damn Heels.

7. What does Damn Heels have in store for us in the future? Can we anticipate different designs either in terms of the shoe itself or the packaging?

We have some exciting new product designs which are set to launch soon, so keep an eye out! Expect to see new designs, new styles, colors, and materials.

Another exciting project that we’re working on is a Women's Confidence Program. Damn Heels is more than just a pair of flats, we aim to help women feel confident and fabulous no matter what the occasion.

8. A lot of fashion bloggers dream of designing their own shoe one day. What is the best piece of advice you can give us?

Just do it. Connect with those who are already successful and learn from them. One of the best ways to attain your goals is to surround yourself with amazing people.

9. What are your favorite pair of heels?

I don’t own them yet, but I – love – Alexander McQueen heels.

10. What is the highest shoe you own and how long can you last in them before you have to break out the Damn Heels?

My highest pair of heels are about 4'', it depends what I’m doing, if I’m standing, I can last a little longer than if I was walking around. Of course, I always have my Damn Heels on me at all times!

Paper lashes. We've seen them sitting in the displays of Sephora, alluring us with their dainty, fairy-like appearance. I admit, they are very beautiful to look at, like a delicate piece of art. The idea behind PAPERSELF, the main producer of these lashes, goes a bit deeper than just another make up fad. "Paperself is a platform for the innovative exploration of paper for contemporary product design." They actually delve into interior design too. T by Alexander Wang Pre-Spring 2012

I don't know how he does it. Collection after collection basics, and Alexander Wang still finds ways to make us want those sheer blouses, clean cut leather, and boy-ish shorts. If all else fails, just throw on some tailored essentials like crisp shirt and a pair of snug leather pants (never fails).

One of the things I love most about T by Alexander Wang is how it lets my imagination run wild. Just by looking at that burnt leather dress, I can already think of a dozen ways to dress it up and down.

Yesterday I celebrated my 21st birthday with my family :) We had lunch, then cake from my favoriate bakery. I'm a total cake fanatic... I love pastries in all forms!

And of course, I had to treat myself to a little something. I totally fell in love with these Taupe Reptile pointy toe heels. Just the right heel height to avoid wriggling in pain too early in the game. I really like how the print is not over the top, but the glossy finish does not leave it boring

And to top it all off, I got flowers delivered to my house <3 gorgeous!!

All that Glitters

Glittery shoes are everywhere. I want a sparkly pair myself, but the heels are just too much for everyday wear. I needed something that would stand out, but still look wearable. These off-gold loafers from Aldo did the trick.

These would go nicely with a toned down outfit to let your feet have the spotlight

Speaking of glittery, my Urban Decay eye pencils FINALLY arrived. I got them for $2 each at Hautelook, a deep discount from the retail price of $18. I got in Baked and Dime

They both glide on wonderfully, very pigmented and creamy. Here are my favoriate ways of using these liners:

1) Use it as a base all over the eyelids to transform your eyeshadow into a gorgeous metallic tone.

2) Apply as a thick liner for a fun pop of color. You can go over the color slightly with a liquid liner to prevent your eyes from looking too washed out or shimmery

3) Use in inner corner and/or waterline to really brighten up your eyes

And guys... The MUF Aqua eyes pencil in 10L is a dupe of the UD eye pencil in Baked. They both are equally pigmented and last just as long. Had I known this sooner, I would've forgone one of them.

Happy new year my dear readers! I'm going to be a bit of a rebel here and not talk about resolutions and recapping photos and all the other things we do in the unwritten book of new year must-do's. I personally don't have any resolutions, I do not wait until January 1st to start working towards my goals ;) everyday is precious and we can make changes in our lives anytime we want with the right will power.

I wanted to show a few looks from Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair's Spring 2012 collection. The pieces here are more artistic and risque than anything.

After some contemplation, I finally bit the bullet and bought YSL's Touche Eclat. This golden weapon claims to brighten your dark circles and reflect light off reddish areas around the nose and mouth to give your face a nice glow. You dispense the product by clicking it like a fountain pen. This is my first YSL product, their cosmetics packaging is to die for. This thing better not disappoint me.

It's hard to find shoes that fit (I was fortunate enough to inherit bunions...) even flats are painful to wear. But when I tried on these metallic Zara flats and wasn't greeted with discomfort, I immediately bought them.

The bows add just a touch of girly-ness but because it is black, it doesn't go overboard with cuteness. These are definitely going to be my new go-to shoes for running errands or wearing on boxing day. Speaking of which, tell me what your boxing day finds are for those that are jumping into the madness!

Anastasia Tinted Eyebrow Gel in Caramel

General rule of thumb: If you have dark hair, your eyebrows should be 2 shades lighter. If you have light colored hair, your brows should be 2 shades darker. I have dark hair and very thick, dark eyebrows. So while the rest of the Asian population is busy filling in their brows, I'm struggling to pluck and trim them so that my brows don't overwhelm the rest of my features. This Tinted Brow Gel is great for lightening the hairs and keeping them in place.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance in - Anti-crease

Previously I used Urban Decay as my eyeshadow primer, but after hearing some positive reviews from YouTube beauty guru MszJackieChu about this product, I decided to give it a shot. On the back of the box it says "Your full coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked shadow disasters." Yup... that just about sums it up pretty well.

Tom Ford's 2012 collection has left me a little confused in terms of his direction. Sure I see some aspects of the "classiness" he describes, but some pieces are unarguably not something you can pull out of your closet confidently a few years down the road. However, I do commend him for some of the beautiful details he incorporate into his collection to de-YSL the feel. Especially adore the first dress with it all its textural glory.

A few years ago, sequins blinded me. Now, I can't help but stare and recite the words "shinnyyy" repeatedly...in my head of course. Rarely am I ever phased or influenced by tacky trends, but sequins and other flashy colors can be totally wearable if done correctly. Here are just a few examples of sequins done right.

Chriselle Lim is one of my favorite stylists. Although I can't pull of the majority of her looks, I have to say that she's able to throw on a lot of pieces together and just make it work. Here, the sequin skirt is downplayed with muted colors like cream and beige, making it a lot more casual and wearable.

Every day appropriate may not be the main focus of Camille's outfits, but these shoes are rockin'! Great to wear to a club or party paired with a more toned down dress

Need less to say, the shinys are everywhere! Of course, I had to quench my own thirst for sequins by shopping for a beautiful dress for an upcoming social. Here's a sneak peak.

I work in the IT industry. Fashion has nothing to do that with that right? Wrong. Today I stumbled upon a trunk show hosted by a Stella & Dot Stylist and a fellow colleague who clearly shared similar tastes when it came to jewelry because we were swooning over the same pieces. I wondered... where has this brand been my whole life?! I've searched high and low for gorgeous statement pieces like this in retail stores and have never come across anything as compelling as these gems. I wanted everything!

This one caught my attention immediately. Such a drop dead gorgeous symphony of colours and textures all melded together perfectly

I bought this one today and cannot wait for it to arrive next week! I've always been a fan of turquoise jewlery and this necklace definitely satisfies my craving for those blue-green gems

In the beginning, most of the collections I've seen for SS 2012 did not really catch my attention, but Giles just blew me away. The textures and shapes were just stunning.

Modern day armour, I think it's just brilliant how it looks like the models are wearing precisely cut sheets of metal. Look at those razor sharp patterns! Right most is like a molten metal sheet of cloth.

Again, more of those beautiful laser cut patterns, so delicate and beautiful, like origami.

I recently discovered Pinterest through The Blog Stylist and now I'm hooked. Just when we thought Tweeting or posting pictures on Facebook was a fun, easy way to share, Pinterest came along and re-defined the way we can express ourselves. In this day and age, the fastest way to communicate something over the internet is with the use of visuals.

At first glance, Pinterest may appear to be very messy with its collage of pictures all of different sizes and subjects, but that is what makes it so genius. The community is also full of very creative people who clearly have an eye for beautiful photos.

Here's my board, as you can see this is a great way to compile your fav images online.

Lady Grey Jewelry. These pieces are anything but "lady-like". Very reminiscent of Made Her Think and BEVEL. Love how structural and precise her accessories are. Most of my jewelry are pretty troublesome to wear. I have to change the way I yield a pen, wash my hands, how to strategically put my hands in my pockets without tearing any fabric in the process... Over time, that piece of jewelry becomes like second skin and your once mindful actions become habit. Funny how the beauty of a piece of wearable art can have this sort of influence. I wouldn't mind going through the trouble for Lady Grey jewelry.

Hair treatments and Eye Creams

I've been meaning to do a product review post for a while now. Here are three items that have been of interest to me as of late.

Moroccanoil Oil Treatment for all hair types

After months of seeing rave reviews of this on all sorts of blogs and articles, I finally decided to give it a go. This stuff does not come cheap so I bought a small .85fl oz on eBay to test drive. I've been using this for 3 days and I can safely say its no HG product for me but it can instantly making my hair softer and less heavy feeling. It does an OK job in protecting my dry ends, but I'd rather try a home remedy like coconut oil than something like this which I hear contains mostly silicons to mimic the feel of healthy hair.

Kiehl's Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment

I've been using this eye cream for quite some time now and I must say it's my favorite moisturizing eye cream! The texture is extremely thick and creamy, almost to the point of being sticky, so be sure to warm this on your fingers before applying it directly under your eyes or else the consistency will tug on the delicate skin. Some people also mentioned that this eye cream promoted milia because it was too moisturizing so for those that have oily skin, so you might want to use this during dryer seasons only.

La Prairie Skin Caviar Luxe Eye Lift Cream

Brace yourself for the hefty price tag on this eye cream. Before I go any further, I just want to mention that was was a gift and I can not imagine myself shelling 3 digits for any eye cream anytime in the near future. Unlike the Kiehl's Avocado eye cream, this one has a more watery texture making for easier application. It is still very moisturizing and after using this for about a month I noticed less puffiness and diminishing fine lines under my eyes. It also made for a much smoother base for concealer application. I only use this in the morning as this cream is geared more towards people with more mature skin.

I've been eying this bag/clutch convertible since it released in Aldo's summer collection. Most of my handbags are rather large so this was perfect to just toss all my essentials in and dash out the door. I couldn't make myself purchase it at full price so I stalked this thing until it was 60% off : ) Twas well worth the wait!

You can wear this 3 ways: as a clutch, hand bag, or shoulder bag. Talk about multi-purpose!

Balmain

Loved how Balmain was still able to stay true to that classic rock n' roll look without sacrificing color. Intricate shapes and textures were always trademark Balmain and here we see a lot of that going on. Statement jacket on the left makes the whole outfit. Just throw that beauty in top of any plain old basics and you've got a killer ensemble.

There's a certain toughness in all these outfits. Something about that deep V-neck and the double belt seems to be able to add a whole new dimension to the look. I wish I can go into the office dressed like this!

Alexander Wang

This collection was a little bit outside of my Wangspectations since I'm pretty used to seeing more solid colors and less busy looks from Alexander. None the less, it was a pleasant surprise to see him use more colors. The shapes are very intriguing here, but then again, he was always really good at making use of silhouettes.

These ones do not particularly tickle my fancy, but I really couldn't help but point out the humor in the built in bikini bottom on the skirt. Down jacket over a swimsuit confuses me too

Givenchy

It goes without saying that this collection was JAW DROP AMAZING. I kind of feel like ever since Givenchy released their trademark see-through maxi skirts/dresses, they've set a new bar for creativity and craftsmanship

Just a quick blog post before I leave for lunch. I bought these sunnies a few days ago when my old ones broke. I accidentally snapped the frames while opening them up to put on. I guess I don't know my own strength (who am I kidding, they were just really cheap sunnies). I'm pretty picky when it comes to shades, I tend to only like wearing huge ones. The more face coverage the better. Great for those days when I roll out of bed and need to run errands.

I kept cracking jokes about how this casing looks like a kidney. My grandma and brother insisted that it resembles a peanut more. I guess that's better than thinking I'm stuffing my shades into an organ.

I came across a really fun photo shoot on pink horrorshow (which, you must know, is a fantastic blog. I adore this girl's style.) It's from Korean Vogue girl and it features an array of different styles, all equally chic and effortless. Qiu Hao

I love discovering budding fashion designers. Sometimes if I come across a really good one, I wonder why they aren't receiving more media coverage because the collections are just amazing. Qiu Hao is one of them. He established his own fashion house in Shanghai in 2006 and has been featured in the likes of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, and NHK Japan.

Looks like a giant scarf/cardigan! Looks beautiful but I think I'd have such a hard time figuring out how to wear something like that

I knew of Yohji Yamamoto for quite a while, but it wasn't until I read an interview about him on Elle magazine that I came to truly appreciate his art. Clothes are just pieces of fabric melded together to deliver the creator's message. Each person translates the message differently, so it is interesting to hear the real story behind each seam. I was struck by Yamamoto's deep and dark passion for his designs. After watching a Yamamoto video on NOWNESS, I'm still unable to truly grasp his motive behind designing clothes, yet his words and thoughts are fascinating.

Dark and aesthetically beautiful. Wing Shya has captured the essence of ancient Chinese culture with notes of modernism. What strikes me the most about this editorial is how every shot looks like a screen capture from a film (but better!). In a world dominated by photo shoots of sexy women with mouths agape in half orgasm, I can definitely appreciate photography that draws out a different kind of beauty that need not depend on the amount of flesh exposed.

I fell in love with Liz Lisa's debut debut Spring/Summer 2011 collection when I saw it on roseberry. Designed by Ayako Kon and Hiromi Sato, each outfit is sugar coated with pale pinks and soft creams for the more delicate side of Gyaru fashion(thank god the models were sans booth tanned skin and white eyeliner). Despite the fact that my closet is more shades of black than anything else, I have a terrible soft spot for very feminine pieces like frills, bows, and tuille. I never really considered myself a "cute" person so I don't think they go very well on me but it doesn't hurt to have these girly fantasies.

I need that parasol for this summer. Don't want to get tanned!

Help me, I'm melting from the adorableness of this last outfit! If I were the model, I'd totally try to sneak away with that giant stuffed animal.

Last night I had a wonderful time at the 2011 MESA Gala. I love seeing everyone dressed up and looking their best : )

Unfortunately, being the photographer, I couldn't take many pictures of my outfit! I'm wearing Young Fabulous & Broke Aida dress and Aldo heels.

After a night of partying I went home, crammed until 2am then woke up for my 9am midterm the next day.

Any more of these Saturday morning tests and my sanity level is going to take a hit. Think I need retail therapy.
